Teaching Materials
Vocabulary and Decoding Materials
My curricular publications promote knowledge of the phonics code and knowledge of roots and affixes. These materials should help students develop insight regarding families of related words, including morphologically related words (like joy, joyful, joyous, enjoy, enjoyable) and antonyms and synonyms. I strive to develop conceptual knowledge and interest as well.
Two series are for beginning readers: Power Readers and Supercharged Readers. The other two books are for advancing readers: Vocabulary through Morphemes and Daily Oral Vocabulary Exercises.
- Vocabulary Through Morphemes: Suffixes, Prefixes, and Roots for Intermediate Grades
- Daily Oral Vocabulary Exercises: A Program to Expand Academic Language in Grades 4-12
- Power Readers: Beginner Books for New Decoders
- Supercharged Readers: Chapter Books Integrating Decoding, Vocabulary, and Morphology
